Lynnea Barry and friends explore the rise of what popular music historians label Roots Rock in the late ‘60s at the hands of Bob Dylan and The Band (and its principal songwriter Robbie Robertson) as they interactively and separately, through a series of albums released between 1965 and ‘69, laid down a post-Folk Revival style that diverged significantly from the mainstream pop move into progressive and psychedelic rock towards a country/folk/blues/roots aesthetic that hit the popular music world hard at the time and remains a rich and compelling complex of genre ever since. The story is intriguing, a bit complicated and burnt, in one way or another, into the memories of more than a few of us: Lynnea and company offer up a set of classics by The Band and Dylan as a reminder.
